Staff Positions

The Staff of the Milestone are possibly the most essential part of creating a great yearbook. We take pride in hiring and having the best staff around, and we have fun too! Here is a look at our staff positions & what they do!

Co-Editors-in-Chief
Job Description: Communicate with publishing representative and company, set deadlines, develop a theme/ideas for the book, create a ladder. Run meetings, plan trips, keep a budget, communicate with CIT and the adviser. Supervise section editors, teach yearbook writing, assist in teaching online design, supervise caption writing, IDing pictures, and creatings leads.

Finalize ALL copy and check and correct proofs. Supervise layout and design, assist in teaching design to editors, supervise business, sales and communication with business office, supervise study photos, supervise photography and developing, finalize ALL layouts, organize yearbook selling campaign, and supervise book distribution. Editors in Chief should plan to stay in the summer until the book is finished.

Student Life Editor
Job Description: Generate original story ideas, assign traditional and original stories, educate/assist new staff, request photos, edit stories for content, write captions, write headlines, edit page content, etc. Responsible for approximately 20 spreads including 3-4 color spreads.

Sports Editor
Job Description: Attend events, collect information, develop story ideas, assign stories, educate/assist new staff, request photos, edit stories for content, write captions, write headlines, edit page content, etc. Responsible for approximately 20 spreads.

Groups Editor
Job Description: Contact groups, collect history, be aware of group events, arrange group photos, collection information and photographs, and assign jobs as necessary. Assign writers, edit page content. Responsible for approximately 20 spreads.

Greeks Editor
Job Description: Contact Greeks, collect history, be aware of group events, arrange group photos, collection information and photographs, and assign jobs as necessary. Assign writers, edit page content. Responsible for approximately 14 spreads.

People Editor
Job Description: Develop story ideas for seniors and underclassmen, assign, collect and edit copy, collect photos, be aware of campus trends and events, organize and communicate with Editors in Chief for individual student pictures. Edit page content and proofread all student body names. Responsible for all panel pages.

Academics Editor
Job Description:Generate story ideas, assign stories, request photos, edit stories for content, write captions, write headlines, communicate with department for department photos, ID staff pages, edit page content. Responsible for approximately 20 spreads.

Photo Editor
Job Description:Communicate with Editors in Chief and section editors for pictures needed, take/assign photographs, upload photos, assist editors with IDing photos, learn Photoshop, and acquire photos from Public Relations if needed.

Copy Editor
Job Description: Edit all copy in the book, assist with caption and story writing, assist Editors in Chief with proofs.

Marketing Manager
Job Description: Lead sales campaigns, the selling of all current books, and the selling of books to former alumni. Advertise around campus, creatively. Preferably a Business/Marketing Major or Minor.

Photographer
Job Description: Take photos of events that have been assigned to them by the photo editor.

Writers/Staff Members
Job Description: Write stories that have been assigned to them. Interview people for the page and copy block quotes. Place pictures and write captions.
